About the Author
Udo published his best-seller Fats That Heal Fats That Kill in 1993, which became recognized as the bible on fats. To set new standards for food oils and other health-supporting consumer products, Udo partnered with Flora Manufacturing and Distributing Ltd. in 1994 to create the Udo's Choice® health product line which includes EFA-rich oil blends and other blends of supplements (see udoschoice.com.

In 2005, Udo was inducted into the Canadian Health Food's Association Hall of Fame for his tireless efforts educating the public about the difference between good oils and bad oils and for pioneering higher production standards of unrefined flax and other polyunsaturated fat-rich oils.

Other titles include Choosing the Right Fats (2001)and Omega-3 Cuisine (2008), co-authored with vegan chef Alan Roettinge. Udo resides in Vancouver, B.C., and is currently working on his latest books, including two on fats and oils, due out in 2017.

Invaluable and One to Keep for the Bookshelf

With severe deficiencies in nearly all essential vitamins, amino-acids, minerals, and fatty-acids, Dr. Eramsus' Fats That Kill, Fats That Heal is a densely scientific, comprehensive, and invaluable piece of information on dieting. As per the title, the main focus throughout the book is about the vital need to incorporate fats and particularly the essential polyunsaturated ALA and LA omega fatty acids lacking in our diets. Both marine and plant omega-3s constitutes vitamin F, which many properly don't know or hear much of.

Through Erasmus' well exacuted details of the biological and functional processes of the omega-3s and the many ways the body utilizes it, including the activation of prostaglandins-2-the master regulator of fatty acid metabolism-our best effort is to try to incorporate them into the diet daily. Taking a naturopathic approach, Dr. Erasmus sees the use of fresh seeds and their oil derivatives as healers of the many ailments now griping the modern American. Since this book was written and published in the 80's, it is still relevant today and I believe deficiencies are far worse well into the 21st century.

What I enjoyed most from reading is that Erusmus' persuasion could be felt through his passion of this subject and is genuinely believable. He provides us with the real natural prescription to the many diseases and degenerative conditions, which is through natural dieting. True healers of modern illnesses and diseases is not pharmaceutical drug dependency, but is, through time, making the effort to consume organic whole foods.

The Book that Reveals Udo's Discovery - The Wonder Supplement

Dr. Udo's Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill is absolutely the best book on health and nutrition that I ever ever read and followed.
Unlike many dozens of other tomes in this enormous field, it is filled with truth, and Udo's prescriptions actually work.While not an easy read,this book is well worth the effort expended to understand it, even at its most basic and practicable level.
The Omega 3-6-9 oil formula [flax seed versus fish oil based], whether Udo's brand, Flora brand, or other comparable brands, is the all around wonder supplement for health. Some results, such as healthy and moist skin [the body's largest organ], can be seen immediately, and others, such as overall vitality and energy, are noticeable in days or weeks.
I have even used it on a 12 year old dog with liver, thyroid, and other health issues with great success. She is dancing around with restored energy and appetite within a few weeks, after having had minimal success with expensive veterinary care for several months.
Omega oil, in my case either Flora or Udo's, is undoubtedly the single most effective supplement Iof 7] that I take, with no close second!
I highly recommend Udo's book, his originally discovered formula, and I highly commend Udo Erasmus to you.

The Title Says It All!

Well this book was so good and informative, that I ended ordering two of them by mistake, and the return time was so short that I missed returning one of the books by just a couple of days. Anyway, what you'll find in this book could save your life, literally. There are 456 pages in this book. After reading only a bit of it, I now value the brands of oils I find in health food stores with the name UDO. Udo Erasmus breaks down a very complicating subject to a level that the average person can understand.

A pathetic excuse for a book

This is the worst book I have ever read. If I could give this book zero stars I would.

The book is written on a 7th grade level. It was clearly thrown together without any effort to polish a hastily composed initial draft. The book is is incoherent. Often I was left scratching my head--what did she mean to say?

The author Ms. Marks is keenly capable of self-promotion, which is why the lead material catches your eye and makes you want to buy it (probably many of the 5 star ratings on this book are from her own inner circle and herself). And there is an occasional sentence in this book that is well written, which proves that the author may be capable of writing reasonably well.

The book is insulting to read. The author is perfectly comfortable gouging the reader for $5 after giving the bare minimum effort writing it. This author appears content to take the path of absolute minimum effort to take your hard earned money. She takes no pride in her work.

By way of example, here is a quotation from the Kindle edition of the above-referenced book on iphone, location 522 of 1241:

Crowd-Funding Money maker

The book is a quick read but it is really full of helpful hints, examples and insight. It was obvious that the author, Patrice Williams Marks, really knows what she is talking about. I think crowd-funding is a brilliant idea and one anyone considering going into business for themselves or that has an idea but not the cash to get it started need to know about and this book is a must read. I know the first thing I asked myself was, "What is crowd-funding?". Crowd-funding is a new trend using various websites (Kickstarter being one of the most popular) and it works by helping people that have great ideas but don't have the money to fund them. These people can pitch their ideas to the public in hopes that they will donate money to help fund them. I had watched a TV show once in the past that was basically crowd-funding. People try to convince the "sharks" to invest in their business. Kickstarter is a website that basically does the same except you are not on TV.

I thought this was a pretty brilliant book and really enjoyed reading it. I hadn't heard about Kickstarter or anything before reading this book so I did a little background work first to find out what exactly crowd-funding and Kickstarter were. I recommend this book to anyone with an idea or to other "How To" people like myself. It flows easily and is written in everyday words so it's not too technical to understand. I don't have any complaints about the book but one small thing. It had a couple grammatical errors in it and that was one of her helpful hint to success. Other than that this book is a great read and full of very helpful information.

A Quick Read BUT Chockful of Crucial Information!!!

I was recently involved an Kickstarter campaign and reading this book would have saved us a lot of time and energy as first timers. You hear about the phenomenal successes of other peoples campaigns but then you reflect on the reality that the majority of campaigns fail. Where does one begin? Read this book, people!

Even though the title includes the word "hacking" there is nothing scammy or underhanded here. Just tried and true legitimate methods for making your campaign count whether it be a new consumer product, a book, a film or movie. It's all possible now if your idea is good and you can get the backing.

This was a breezy and engaging read that'll get you started in the right place. Great tips on how to find an audience and build buzz in the run up to your project's launch...and how to continue and increase that buzz post-launch.

In summation, if you're considering kickstarter or indiegogo to fund your project don't start in the middle of nowhere without a map. You need a helpful friend in your corner. With this little book in your hip pocket, you've got that friend and she's there helping you through. Enjoy and good luck!

Suzanne Preston Blier is Allen Whitehill Clowes Professor of Fine Arts and Professor of African and African American Studies at Harvard University. Her first book, The Anatomy of Architecture: Ontology and Metaphor in Batammaliba Architectural Expression (Cambridge University Press, 1987) won the Arnold Rubin prize. Her second book, African Vodun: Art, Psychology, and Power (1995), won the Charles Rufus Morey Prize. Other books include African Royal Art: The Majesty of Form (1998), Butabu: Adobe Architecture in West Africa (2003) and Art of the Senses: Masterpieces from the William and Bertha Teel Collection (2004). She is a member of the Coll�ge de France International Scientific and Strategic Committee (2011-2013) and is on the board of the College Art Association. Preserving the Yoruba Identity

Blier connects us with the Yoruba way of thinking about the living and the dead, art, war, and God. She preserves their genuine, detailed identity against the more prolific histories of colonialism and the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Using the holes near the roots of trees, the dead would travel in and out of Il�-If'', a modern Nigerian city that was once the center of a Yoruba Empire from 1200 to 1400 AD. A world through Yoruba-educated eyes was dynamic, linking symbolic objects, life, and the birthplace of Gods.

What Blier sees in the art is the risk the artist took to make it: uncertainty, speaking truth to power, survival from an ancient civil war, burying the objects of yearly rituals, trying to reach perfection, and most of all, owning the narrative to their own history and identity.

The Yoruba had a king, Obalufon II, who invented copper casting. A 13th Century mask is said to represent his likeness. At the site Wunmonij, many more heads were found in various modes of decoration. They were perfect and elegant, with almond eyes, imposing headdresses, and could have been made by the same artist.

The Yoruba say, “It is death that turns an individual into a beautiful sculpture. A living person has blemishes.”

Very nice comprehensive reivew

I am not big on writing reviews; however, this book deserves a comment. The chapters are very well written and takes you in depth with every disease. I like the lymphoid neoplasms chapters little more than myeloid. They are written better than the WHO and enable you to understand the background and the classifications in depth. The only draw back I would say is sometime I feel it contains a lot of academic nonsense; but I must say it is limited to a few number of pages. Good review to use before during your fellowship and may be a bench review during sign-out. The online version of the book is excellent. Overall, it is worth buying it.

I love this book. I'm a hematopathologist and I feel like it is basically an extended edition of the WHO, it is as comprehensive as the WHO but with much more detail and differentia diagnosis, I love it!!! Would highly recommend!!

About the Author

Napoleon Hill was born in 1883 in a one-room cabin on the Pound River in Wise County, Virginia. He is the author of the motivational classics The Laws of Success and Think and Grow Rich. Hill passed away in November 1970 after a long and successful career writing, teaching, and lecturing about the principles of success. His lifework continues under the direction of the Napoleon Hill Foundation.

BE CAREFUL WHAT VERSION YOU BUY!

Amazon has done us a huge disservice by lumping all the reviews for the various "original" versions of this book together. The version I purchased (black cover with money on the bottom, kindle version) is riddled with errors where the publisher evidently SCANNED the book in and then didn't bother to edit the results. Page numbers appear randomly in the middle of paragraphs, "m" appears where clearly "in" was intended and in some cases paragraphs just end in the middle of a sentence. This is a great book but some of the publishers have done a terrible job reproducing it and Amazon isn't helping by grouping very different copies together in the same review group.

I hope to update this review when I find a less crappy copy of this book, but avoid the version with the black cover with money on the bottom. (See pictures)

Finally! a clean and unabridged edition. I had to purchase two other editions before finding this one. It is clean, good size font, and true to the original 1937 wording. Published by Dauphin Publications ISBN 978-1939438256. Nice job!

Finding a true original version of Think and Grow Rich has been a major challenge. Some of the Mass Market Paperbacks produced are not complete for example Wilder Publications 2007 has the following;

Pg113 "before Lord Cornwall is surrendered" - Should be "before Lord Cornwallis surrendered

Pg 115 "penalties of an Mt of Henry VIII" - Should be "of an Act of Henry VIII"

Pg 119 "The habit of decisions acquired" Should be "The habit of indecision acquired". This one is critical as the context of the message is completety changed with the wrong word.

All I can add further is that "Think and Grow Rich - The Complete Classic Text" published by Tarcher Peguin & "Think and Grow Rich The Orginal Classic" published by Capstone seem to be the original text based on the 1937 edition.

Hope this helps others as it has been extremely frustrating studying this great book and finding errors in the print etc.

The best quick reference for solid mechanics

This is one of the best concise reference for a wide variety of topics in soild mechanics. The authour covers the most fundamental and important topics and this can be a helpful reference to anyone right from a begineer to advanced level researchers. The Maple and Matlab FEM codes accompanying the chapters are wonderful and illustrate the concepts in a very good way thus encouraging budding researchers to understand those topics by practicing them using an FEM code. A very well written text.

Good to review not to learn

I am using this book to teach a solid mechanics course. The book style is as if someone has put his powerpoint lectures together and made a book. Many important subjects which need to be discussed in detail have been just mentioned in multiple bullets with very short statements. For example, the author does not prove the strain compatibility equations and just mentions them without even discussing intuitively or mathematically why we need those equations. Another example is Von Mises criterion which is not only not proved from shear strain energy point of view but also not well explained and compared to other models such as Tresca's criterion. There are many many other examples as such in this book which I think makes it improper to use as a textbook. The only good thing about the book is the fact that it contains a lot of material and it is very likely that you can find a formula which you do not remember in it. However, if you do not remember a topic you better look it up in other books.

Legendary for a Reason!

I had Prof. Bower as my primary instructor for a freshman engineering course in dynamics and vibrations, and his clarity in lectures most certainly comes through in this textbook. It covers an absurd range of topics (I've taken graduate level courses in continuum, elasticity, and plasticity since then, and they each cover about as much material as one or two chapters of this book) in great detail as well. Though this book may not be for college students just starting in engineering, I can most certainly recommend it for mechanical engineers at the advanced undergraduate and graduate levels. If you are doing any coursework into the theory of mechanics, don't hesitate to get this; it has been one amazing reference work. After all, there is a reason why engineering professors at some of the top programs in the nation use this text with their courses.

About the Author
Dr. Robert L. Mathis is professor emeritus of management at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). Born and raised in Texas, he received his BBA and MBA from Texas Tech University and a Ph.D. in Management and Organization from the University of Colorado. At UNO, he has received the "Excellence in Teaching" award. Dr. Mathis has co-authored several books and published numerous articles covering a variety of topics. He also has held national offices in the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and served as president of the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). In addition, he is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by HRCI. He has had extensive consulting experiences with organizations of all sizes and in a variety of areas. Firms assisted have been in the telecommunications, telemarketing, financial, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, and utility industries. Dr. Mathis has extensive specialized consulting experience in establishing or revising compensation plans for small- and medium-sized firms. Internationally, he has consulting and training experience with organizations in Australia, Lithuania, Romania, Moldova, and Taiwan.

Dr. John H. Jackson is professor of management at the University of Wyoming. Born in Alaska, he received his BBA and MBA from Texas Tech University. He worked in the telecommunications industry in human resources management for several years before completing his PhD in Management and Organization at the University of Colorado. Two Wyoming governors have appointed him to the Wyoming Business Council and the Workforce Development Council. Dr. Jackson serves as president of Silverwood Ranches, Inc.

Dr. Sean R. Valentine is the University of North Dakota alumni leadership and ethics professor and professor of management. Originally from Texas, he received a BS in Management/Human Resources from Park University, a BS in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management from New Mexico State University, an MBA in Business Administration from Texas State University, and a DBA in Management from Louisiana Tech University. He was employed in the hospitality industry for many years and was an officer in the Army National Guard. During his academic career, Dr. Valentine published more than 75 articles in journals such as HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, HUMAN RELATIONS, HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT QUARTERLY, EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES AND RIGHTS JOURNAL, JOURNAL OF BUSINESS RESEARCH, JOURNAL OF BUSINESS ETHICS, JOURNAL OF PERSONAL SELLING & SALES MANAGEMENT, CONTEMPORARY ACCOUNTING RESEARCH, and BEHAVIORAL RESEARCH IN ACCOUNTING. His primary research and teaching interests include human resource management, business ethics, and organizational behavior, and he has received numerous awards and other recognition for his work. Great content, poor form

This textbook has very good, up-to-date content that makes it an acceptable choice for using in any course on introductory principles of human resource management. It has a distracting weakness, however, and that is that its copy editing and proofreading were pretty poor. The book has a large number of writing errors in it. The errors are of pretty much every variety and category, including these:
- Misspellings (e.g., repeatedly misspelling "develop" as "develope" in chapter 4)
- Comma splices (chapter 2 has a nice one: "Audits frequently...to collect information, they may be performed by outside entitites...")
- Noun-verb number mismatch (e.g., saying "it is [singular] provided" when the the antecedent noun is "efforts" [plural] in chapter 8)
- Incorrect punctuation (e.g., "It is unrealistic: however: to expect..." in chapter 1)
- Errant words in sentences (e.g., "HR practices that to maintains a high-quality, workforce" [Yes, you're also seeing an incorrect comma and noun-verb mismatch in this awful sentence in chapter 2])
- And so on and so on.

If you're trying to get your students to write better in addition to learning something about HRM, this textbook may actually hurt your cause because it does not model good writing in many instances. I guess the authors and Cengage laid down on this one. Beware!

Great Read

At first glance, it was a bit hard to read. The editing could have been a little better, but overall the content is top-knotch. It grasps very large theories and applies them to our everyday life. If you read this book, it will open your eyes to a different theoretical world than we know now. Read through the many topics and in the end they are all correlated and interrelated.
