Nothing ignites a fire like the perfect match…

Anna Weber is every inch the proper librarian--old-fashioned, conservatively dressed right down to her tightly clipped flaming red hair. She's just moved to a small Texas town, and is determined to spend time with her friend before she has to disappear. Relationships aren't easy for her. She knows too well what it means to be burned. And the last thing she ever wants to do is fall in love…

Especially not with a fireman who's hot enough to set the entire state of Texas on fire.

Cowboy can't resist the fiery little librarian, and he's determined to make her his. Beneath that prim-and-proper exterior is a woman he very much wants to know--if she'd let him. She'll test his patience. His control. Hell, his very sanity. And for the first time, Cowboy wonders if he's found the one fire he can't control...

Playing with Fire
By Evampire
As a proper librarian, relationships aren’t easy for Anna Weber and she knows all too well what it means to be burned so the last thing she wants to do is fall in love in this captivating contemporary romance.

Cowboy can’t resist the fiery little librarian and he’s determined to make her his but he has to wonder if he’s found the one fire he can’t control and the reader can’t help but get drawn into the intriguing romance as the chemistry between Anna and Cowboy heats up the pages and flares out of control with fireworks exploding during some very explosive encounters. The strong, compelling characters demand attention as they capture the reader’s heart with lots of emotional turmoil and a roller coaster of a relationship while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot keeps expectations high with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.

Anna has lots of secrets concerning her past and she’s doesn’t really trust anyone but she can’t resist Cowboy no matter how much they infuriate each other and the excitement builds as the danger escalates and secrets are revealed with lots of unexpected twists that keeps readers guessing. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination making it easy for the reader to become absorbed in the story while the intriguing events and fiery romance ensures that there is never a dull moment to be found and some friendly ribbing between friends and family add a bit of light-hearted fun.

I was completely caught up in this story from beginning to end and I have to say that Anna and Cowboy sure knew how to keep me on my toes until the very end with all the tangles in their romance and I am looking forward to becoming Tangled in Texas again.

3.5 stars

This is actually my first Alison Bliss book, but as entertaining as her writing is, it won’t be my last. Playing with Fire is a hilarious, fun, wild read that I really enjoyed. I didn’t completely love it, since some parts of the book aggravated me, but it’s still an entertaining read nonetheless. If you’re a fan of humorous reads with a lovable characters and an intriguing storyline, I’d recommend this one.

The blurb first intrigued me, because the town manwhore falling for the shy librarian? Yes, please! I couldn’t WAIT to see how this librarian would bring the playboy to his knees. And ahhh, what a fun read this was. I really liked how Cowboy, fireman and most eligible bachelor, was so taken away by the sweet and quiet Anna. They are complete opposites and so not meant for each other, but their hot chemistry says otherwise. I loved how the author was able to incorporate both sexiness AND humor into Anna and Cowboy’s growing relationship.

I did get frustrated at how both Anna and Cowboy would always somehow get mad at each other and run away from their problems. Cowboy has the occasional mantrum, which took away from his alpha-ness, but I still liked him in the end. Anna is definitely my favorite of the two – she’s shy, awkward, self-conscious… she’s relatable. I was heartbroken over her tragic past, but she has a strength that she uses to go head-to-head with Cowboy. The two of them have such hilarious banter! I laughed so much while reading.

The romance is so sweet. I wanted to see Cowboy fight just a liiittle bit more for Anna, but the grand gesture at the end totally made up for everything. This former player definitely, to everyone’s amusement, falls head-over-heels for the town librarian, and I loved that once Cowboy saw Anna, there was no one else for him.

I really liked this book. It wasn’t perfect, but I was entertained the whole time I was reading. There’s a little bit of suspense thrown in too, with someone setting things on fire in town. Overall, Playing with Fire is a great read with tons of laugh-out-loud moments and an opposites-attract romance. I really hope that there will be more in the series!

Absolutely amazing! Full of angst, suspense, and a steamy romance!

I really enjoyed Rules of Protection, so when I heard Cowboy was getting his story I couldn't wait to dive into Playing with Fire. Playing with Fire is full of suspense, angst, and sexy scenes, as well as some laugh out loud moments.

We meet Anna, who is the new librarian in town, and immediately we know she's running from something. She's quiet and a bit timid and tries to avoid Cowboy with everything she has. Cowboy being the town playboy, is not someone who Anna needs in her life. She is happy when she believes he doesn't recognize her from all those years ago, but Bobbie Jo and the rest of the group know exactly who she is, so she knows it's just a matter of time before he realizes he already knows sweet Anna.

Cowboy and Anna are hilarious together. He pushes and pushes, and she keeps turning him away. At first Cowboy seems to only be interested because Anna keeps turning him down, but as the book progresses you see that Anna may just be the girl to settle the playboy down. Things between them are definitely hostile at times, especially when he blames her for fires and anything else that comes to mind. Cowboy definitely has a problem with not thinking before he speaks and it really gets to Anna. She sprouts off to him multiple times in this book and instead of making him mad, it seems to draw him to her even more.

I adored Cowboy's character in Rules of Protection, but the character that truly stood out in this book was Anna. She is definitely a woman who knows what she wants and doesn't settle for less. She cares about the people in her life and doesn't want to bring any danger to them by getting too close. She's strong yet timid, and quiet yet feisty. She's the perfect heroine for this book and perfect for Cowboy. I love how she puts him in place multiple times in this book, and doesn't stand down from anything. The neighbors? Everyone in town is afraid of them.. but she doesn't care, she tells them off and doesn't deal with their crap at all. I just wish she would have been more open with her friends and Cowboy about why she was scared and what was going on with her life.

Seeing Cowboy put himself out there for Anna was sweet. The things he does to make her understand he isn't looking for a one night stand are hilarious. He gets so frustrated with her, yet always comes back and tries to get her to see how much he can change. Granted he does do some boneheaded things in this book, and he lets his temper get the best of him a few times, but overall the way he is with Anna is amazing! The "teaching" lesson he had with her? I laughed and swooned at the same time!

As the story progresses the suspense in this novel progresses as well. We slowly learn more about Anna's background and what she's running from. My heart hurt for her with what she's been through and I believe it's what made her such a strong character. Trying to figure out what all was going on in this book kept me on the edge of my seat. Not only was I hoping and praying Cowboy and Anna would finally get things right, but I wanted to know who it was that was causing the fires and problems for Anna. When everything finally comes out, I was definitely thrown because I did NOT suspect the person who was making havoc in Anna's life at all! I was totally thrown for a loop on that one, and was shocked, but I loved it as well!

To say this book pulled at my heartstrings and made me forget everything else around me is an understatement. Playing with Fire is a beautifully written book that has everything you could possibly want in a story. The bad boy changing his ways, the strong woman who knows what she wants, the laugh out loud moments, the suspense, the angst... all of these make this book a must read. Even though this book is part of a series, it is definitely a stand alone. The ending was beautifully written and I was NOT ready to say goodbye to these amazing characters. I really hope we get more stories from this group of friends as each and every one of them are absolutely amazing!
